Operetta by Leo Fall
Libretto by Rudolf Schanzer and Ernst Welisch

Premiere: July 08, 2023
Venue: Congress & TheaterHaus Bad Ischl

The largest operetta festival in Austria opens the 2023 season with a real firework of music, dance and passion, where a master operetta meets a great revue. Leo Fall's musical stroke of genius, Madame Pompadour, will be reborn in a completely new guise in 2023: a jazzy revue version for the large orchestra will be written especially for the Lehár Festival, which will spotlight Leo Fall's wonderful, famous melodies even more rapidly, romantically and frivolously puts.

In the Musenstall, a desert bar, Count René cavorts with his friend Calicot, who is writing a new satirical song about the royal mistress. It soon turns out, however, that Madame Pompadour, who had just been mocked, and her maid Belotte are turning the two adventurers' heads.

At the Lehár Festival, the story of Madame Pompadour becomes a lavish operetta experience with big dance numbers, a prominent ensemble and the incomparable music of Leo Fall. Look forward to an opulent feast for the eyes and ears.

The available light and sound techniques meet the highest demands. The stage with its sinkable orchestra pit keeps all possibilities open and offers a flexible use of the room. Loading lines are kept short via the back-stage. The hall itself is representatively and stylishly decorated. Steps in the second half of the hall guarantee an open view to the stage.
