Of course, Andrè Schuen has long been successful on the world's major opera stages - for example at the Bavarian and Vienna State Operas, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Starting from Mozart, he has already advanced to the first Wagner roles, such as Wolfram in “Tannhäuser” at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. In addition, the baritone, who grew up in La Val in South Tyrol, dedicates himself to song like no other singer of his generation - and always has the accomplished pianist Daniel Heide at his musical side. “Schuen doesn't seem to be looking for beauty - rather for truthfulness,” says a review of the joint recording of Schubert's “Winterreise”: “He sings as if the dramatic events in these songs were happening at the very moment we were listening to them get to hear. That is the art, his and his companion's.” With Herbstgold, Andrè Schuen and Daniel Heide demonstrate their meticulously coordinated skills and their musical storytelling skills in the grand gestures and intimate turns of phrase in songs between late romanticism and early modernism.

Extasy

The HERBSTGOLD - Festival 2025 invites you to experience music in its deepest and most moving form. Under the motto “Extasy”, we dedicate ourselves to those moments in which music takes us beyond the everyday - into a state of intense devotion in which sounds, emotions and interpretation merge into an inseparable unity.

Ecstasy in music means the complete penetration of a work - for the performers as well as for the audience. These are the moments when a note resonates and time seems to stand still for a moment. When passion, virtuosity and expressiveness build a bridge between art and soul.

Experience renowned artists, extraordinary programs and inspiring encounters in the special ambience of Esterházy Palace. Let yourself be carried away by the power of music - to a festival that is entirely dedicated to the search for the sublime

Esterházy Castle

Esterházy Castle is a palace in Eisenstadt, Austria, the capital of the Burgenland state. It was constructed in the late 13th century, and came under ownership of the Hungarian Esterházy family in 1622. Under Paul I, 1st Prince Esterházy of Galántha the estate was converted into a baroque castle which remained the principal residence and center of administration of the family for over 300 years.
