Synopsis/Details

Adina – Gioachino Rossini

Conductor: GEORGE PETROU

Stage Director: ROSETTA CUCCHI

2018 Production

Adina by Gioachino Rossini is a one-act comic opera centered on love, jealousy, and mistaken identities. Set in a village under Moorish occupation, the story follows Adina, a beautiful and independent young woman who finds herself caught in a romantic entanglement between two men: the boastful officer Alì and the young soldier Selimo. As secrets are revealed and misunderstandings unfold, Adina must confront her true feelings and decide whom she really loves. Blending Rossini’s characteristic melodic elegance, lively rhythms, and sparkling humor, the opera offers a charming tale of romance, intrigue, and unexpected twists, culminating in a joyful resolution.

  • Where does the Rossini Opera Festival take place?
    • The Rossini Opera Festival takes place at several venues across Pesaro, Italy. Teatro Rossini, located at Piazza Lazzarini 1 in the historic city centre, is one of its venues. The theatre is approximately a five-minute walk from Pesaro railway station, making it easy to reach on foot. Visitors can also travel by local bus or taxi, or arrive by car and use nearby city parking facilities.
  • When should I arrive at Teatro Rossini?
    • We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the performance begins. This allows time to find the entrance, have your ticket ready and locate your seat before the show starts.
  • What happens if I arrive late?
    • Late entry may be restricted to avoid disturbing the performance. Admission arrangements can depend on the production and the theatre’s rules. If permitted, you may be asked to wait until a suitable moment before entering the theatre. To avoid missing any part of the performance, we recommend arriving before the scheduled start time.
  • Is there a dress code for performances at Teatro Rossini?
    • There is generally no strict dress code for opera performances. Smart casual attire is a suitable choice, although some visitors may prefer to dress more formally for the occasion. We recommend wearing something comfortable and elegant that suits an evening at the opera. As a general guideline, we recommend avoiding shorts, sleeveless tops, flip-flops and beachwear, as these may be considered too casual for the theatre.
