The Castle of Spessa, immersed in the greenery of a magnificent Italian garden, stands elegantly in the heart of the Collio Gorizia. Since its origins, in the 13th century, it has been the residence of the lords of the Friulian nobility for hundreds of years: from the 16th century onwards, illustrious families took over the Spessa property: first the Dorimbergo family, then the Rassauer and the Della Torre Valsàssina family who owned it for more than 300 years. Over the centuries, illustrious personalities have stayed there: among others, the famous writer and adventurer Giacomo Casanova to whom the famous prize that the castle of Spessa hosts every summer is named.
